10 Things to Do Before End of Summer

I blinked and it was suddenly August and before I know it school will be starting back up. But, let’s not let go of summer just yet. There are a few more weeks and at least a month left of warm weather to complete this epic bucket list.

  • Have the perfect pool day
  • A day full of swimming, snacks, and way too much sun. Go to your favorite local pool, bring a book to lay out, pack a lunch and just spend the whole day enjoying the warm weather. Need a suit to enjoy those last few weeks of summer sun? We JUST launched Lime Ricki swimsuits online, which are the perfect suit to add to your closet for now and for later!

  • Throw an outdoor movie marathon event
  • Pick a series; Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Twilight, Star Wars - whatever genre you’re into and throw a party for the evening. Invite all your friends, make food inspired by the show, and have everyone bring blankets for the best outdoor movie marathon.

  • Go camping or take a day trip
  • If camping isn’t your thing, just alter it and take a day trip to a touristy place. Leave early enough that you have plenty of time to hike, shop, or spend the day doing something different than your daily routine and enjoying the sights and sounds of your own home state!

  • Try the ‘Coastal Grandma’ fashion trend
  • One of my favorite trends this year is the ‘coastal grandma’ trend. It’s light, easy and so effortless. Stick to linen fabrics, wide-leg capri pants, and button-up tops. An outfit so casual, so chic, and perfect for walking the beach. August is the perfect month to try any summer fashion trends you might have been putting off before we embrace transition styles for fall

  • Complete a DIY project
  • It doesn’t have to be a huge home renovation, but just get creative and build something, especially while you have lots of evening light (before the days get shorter!) You’d be surprised how empowering it is to build something - it might be a little intimidating at first but you might find your new niche and fill your creative needs at the same time.

  • Go on a sunrise hike
  • All you non-morning people, just hear me out. I promise you won’t regret hiking to a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise. There’s something so peaceful and calming about waking up before everyone and getting a front-row seat to something beautiful. Plus, the weather is cooler in the morning! And there's nothing better to wear for a morning hike than our very popular Sophia Set!

  • Shopping date with your bestie-but shop for each other
  • Take your bestie and hit up your favorite stores, but instead of shopping for yourself mix things up and shop for each other. Step out of your comfort zone and try something new, who knows your bestie might just find your new style!

  • Do something new with your hair
  • This can be as daring or simple as you choose. If there’s a hair color or hairstyle you’ve been wanting to try out, now is the time to DO IT. Start the new school year with a fresh new look. Even if you aren’t going back to school, leave the summer with a bang.

  • Have a bonfire with all the fixins’
  • Bonfires are what late summer evenings are all about. Get together with your favorite people, roast hot dogs, starbursts, and make s’mores. If you want to try something new get strawberries and jet-puffed marshmallow cream and roast those.

  • Find the perfect summer dress
  • If you haven’t found a dress perfect for summer, it’s not too late. Find that dress that you want to wear everyday that looks just as good dressed up as it does with sneakers. Bonus points if you pick a dress that will layer well underneath a cardigan or sweater for fall transitional styles!
