Fun Fall Trends to Try This Year

It’s always so fun to see what trends are up and coming every year and every season. This year’s fall trend report has some new trends that we think everyone should try!  Some are a flashback from the ’90s or early 2000s while others we are seeing for the first time. Whatever they are, trends can be fun to try and they give you the opportunity to spruce up your wardrobe with new and unique pieces. However, we know that they can also be a little intimidating. That’s why we put together this trend report - sometimes you just need a little extra guidance and encouragement to try out a new style trend!

A trend that we can easily get behind this year is the beautiful square neckline. We’ve seen the square neck on a lot of our tops and dresses. There’s something so feminine and high-end feeling from a square neckline, and it’s really different from all the other necklines we’ve seen over the last couple of years. When it comes to styling a square neckline piece, let the shape do all the work for you. When accessorizing, keep things simple and maybe opt for a hat or bold earrings rather than a necklace.

With fall come layered styles, and one way to really shake up your wardrobe is adding the beloved shacket. Shirt + Jacket = the shacket, a trendy new layering piece that we absolutely adore and cannot get enough of. A shacket is typically oversized and gives off that casual effortless vibe without having to try too hard. Style it with a graphic tee underneath, or button it up and wear it as a shirt.

Usually, as the weather gets cooler the tones get warmer and deeper. But this year the bold, rich hues carrying through into our fall transition pieces. Sure, we love a good burgundy or rust color, but there’s something so uplifting about a bright mauve or bold, deep blue. Try incorporating a bold top or dress into your fall wardrobe to keep that summer vibe alive just a little bit longer. These brighter colors will also help you transition your summer wardrobe into fall as well! Another trend on the rise is shorter dresses or skirts. The 90s mini skirt and shorter dresses have been super popular and coming back this fall. Even if it’s not a total mini length, the higher above the knee seems to be the more sought-after option. When styling this trend, it’s really all about channeling your inner Rachel Green. As the weather gets colder, you can pair your favorite fleece lined tights or leggings underneath!

The sweater vest is no longer just for Steve Urkle. We are seeing sweater vests everywhere and loving it. Pair a sweater vest over a patterned dress, over a long sleeve top, or simply alone if the temperature allows. By adding a knitted style, it amplifies your outfit while also giving it more dimension. This sweater vest trend may be tricky and intimidating at first, but just trust us, you’ll be hooked once you realize how cozy they are!

Lastly, but certainly not least, chunky sneakers are here to stay. A chunky sneaker is going to carry your fall wardrobe. They have this causal, ‘out and about’ vibe about them that’s so unique. Are they sporty? Are they chic? Maybe a little bit of both? You can wear chunky sneakers with just about anything and we encourage you to go for it!
